Linocut prints inspired by nature and the quiet life of ponds.

My story

Pond Life Press.

A nature-inspired printmaking practice rooted in ponds, reptiles, amphibians, and the places that bring me peace.

Born and raised in Toronto and now based in Quebec City, I create linocut artwork as a growing side business. My goal is to build a full-time creative practice and connect with like-minded people locally.

Linocut tools and a pond-inspired print in a light-filled studio

Each original print begins with a carefully hand-carved linoleum block, capturing the quiet beauty of the natural world. Inspired by the serene life of freshwater ponds—from frogs and fish to water lilies and snakes—every piece reflects a deep passion for printmaking and storytelling. In addition to original art, local workshops in Quebec City offer a welcoming space to learn the art of linocut hands-on.

French-language portions will also be offered to better serve Quebec.

The artist

Zoë Hughes.

I am a linocut printmaker born and raised in Toronto, now living in Quebec City. With a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and a master's degree in agriculture, ecology, and environment, I have always been passionate about environmental issues and collective action.

“Printmaking connects my creativity with the deepest part of my happiness in nature”

After years of teaching people to grow food in urban settings, I am bringing that love of teaching together with my longtime passion for art and printmaking. Ponds, frogs, fish, and water lilies are my greatest inspirations, and I hope to share that joy through local workshops and connections with like-minded people.
